Ghana vs Chad 2026 WCQ

Ghana Thrash Chad 5-0 to Go Top of Group I

The Black Stars of Ghana delivered a commanding performance in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, securing a resounding 5-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium. The win sees Ghana climb to the top of Group I, setting the stage for a crucial upcoming clash against Madagascar.

It was a blistering start for Ghana as Antoine Semenyo found the net just two minutes into the game. The floodgates soon opened, with Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah all getting on the scoresheet in a dominant display of attacking football.

Otto Addo: “We Want to Stay on Top”

Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance but emphasized the importance of maintaining their top spot in the group.

“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot,” Addo stated after the match.

With Ghana now leading the group, the Black Stars will shift focus to their next game against Madagascar on March 24, where they will aim to solidify their position in the qualifiers.

Antoine Semenyo: “Scoring Five Goals Is a Confidence Booster”

For Antoine Semenyo, the emphatic victory over Chad could not have come at a better time. The Bournemouth forward, who last scored for Ghana in a 2023 AFCON qualifier against Angola, believes the team’s improved finishing will be key moving forward.

“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said after the match.

The Black Stars had been struggling in front of goal, managing only three goals in their last six matches, a poor run that saw them fail to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, their latest attacking display signals a return to form as they continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.

“Every player has a period when they don’t score. Every game is an opportunity to try and get a goal. If I don’t, I focus on the next game,” Semenyo added.

With their offensive struggles seemingly behind them, Ghana will now look to maintain this newfound momentum in their next encounter.

Up Next: Ghana vs Madagascar

Following their five-star performance against Chad, Ghana now turns their attention to a pivotal clash with Madagascar on Monday, March 24. A win will further cement their place at the top of Group I, keeping them on track for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Can the Black Stars build on this dominant victory and continue their road to North America 2026? Stay tuned for more updates!
