Africa’s First AI Factory Powered by Nvidia to Launch in 2025

Africa’s first AI factory is coming soon, thanks to a strategic partnership between Cassava Technologies and Nvidia Corp. Founded by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, Cassava Technologies will integrate Nvidia’s advanced AI computing and software into its data centers. The first deployment will take place in South Africa by June 2025, with further expansion planned for Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, and Morocco.

This initiative will empower businesses, researchers, and governments with access to world-class AI infrastructure, ensuring Africa remains competitive in the global digital economy.

How Africa’s First AI Factory Will Transform the Continent

Africa’s first AI factory will be a game-changer for technological innovation. By establishing high-performance AI computing centers, this project will:

  • Provide AI infrastructure that allows startups and enterprises to develop intelligent applications.
  • Keep data within Africa’s borders, strengthening security and regulatory compliance.
  • Accelerate AI development in industries like healthcare, agriculture, fintech, and energy.

According to Masiyiwa, this initiative will help Africa fully leverage the Fourth Industrial Revolution, positioning the continent as a global leader in AI innovation.

Nvidia’s Role in Africa’s First AI Factory

As an Nvidia Cloud Partner, Cassava Technologies will introduce accelerated AI computing to Africa for the first time.

“Nvidia is helping innovators solve our greatest challenges in agriculture, healthcare, energy, financial services, and many other industries,” said Jaap Zuiderveld, VP EMEA at Nvidia.

The partnership ensures that African businesses and researchers will have access to the same AI computing capabilities available in more developed markets. This move will foster technological breakthroughs and economic transformation across the continent.

Tech Giants Betting Big on Africa’s AI Future

Cassava Technologies is not the only company investing in Africa’s digital transformation. Microsoft and UAE-based G42 recently announced a $1 billion investment in a geothermal-powered data center in Kenya.

With Africa’s first AI factory on the horizon, the continent is set to become a hub for artificial intelligence and machine learning, unlocking endless possibilities for growth and innovation.
