Amazon Publishing Royalty Payment Policies Under Fire from Ghanaian Writer

Ghanaian writer Seyram Agbleze has called out Amazon Publishing royalty payment policies, highlighting the obstacles African authors face in accessing their earnings. Speaking at a Love for Humanity Initiative event, Agbleze urged Amazon to revise its payment structures, emphasizing how current restrictions limit opportunities for African writers.

Challenges African Authors Face with Amazon Publishing Royalty Payment

Agbleze pointed out that many African authors struggle to receive payments due to Amazon’s regional restrictions. He stated, “I think it is high time Amazon Publishing takes a relook at its royalties payment policy which clearly makes royalties inaccessible to African authors on the basis of location.” This policy, according to him, creates an unfair system that prevents African writers from fully benefiting from their literary work.

Call for Reform in Amazon Publishing Royalty Payment System

The Ghanaian writer also stressed the need for investment in Africa’s literary industry to support local authors. He urged African governments to step in and create structures that ensure fair compensation for writers. Agbleze believes that by addressing these barriers, more African authors will have the opportunity to succeed in the global publishing space.

The Future of African Writers in Global Publishing

As conversations around Amazon Publishing royalty payment policies continue, the demand for a more inclusive system grows stronger. Writers and industry stakeholders are pushing for reforms that will enable African authors to compete on equal footing with their global counterparts.

With increasing attention on these issues, the hope remains that Amazon Publishing will reconsider its policies and introduce more accessible payment options for African writers.
