Muhammed Salah signs new contract

Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool FC, extending his stay at Anfield beyond the 2024/25 season.

The Egyptian forward, widely regarded as one of the club’s all-time greats, has committed his future to the Premier League giants amid another sensational individual campaign.

Salah, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

His 27 goals in the Premier League currently make him the division’s top scorer.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the 32-year-old expressed his happiness about renewing his deal:

“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.”

The contract extension is a major boost for new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who will rely on Salah’s leadership and attacking prowess as the Reds aim for more silverware in the coming seasons.

With 243 goals in 394 appearances, Salah is third on Liverpool’s all-time leading scorers list.

His contributions have been vital in the club’s recent success, helping Liverpool win seven major trophies, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.

Salah’s individual accolades include:

  • 3x Premier League Golden Boot winner
  • 2x PFA Players’ Player of the Year
  • 2x FWA Footballer of the Year

Grateful for the unwavering support of the Liverpool fans, Salah added:

“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”

Mohamed Salah’s rise from a young player in Egypt to a global footballing icon is nothing short of extraordinary.

Born in Nagrig, Egypt, Salah’s professional journey began at El Mokawloon before he made his mark in European football with Basel in Switzerland.

His move to Chelsea in 2014 was a pivotal step, but it was at AS Roma where he truly came into his own, earning a transfer to Liverpool in 2017.
