Host nation Angola won the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket title after a dominant 70–43 victory over Mali in the final held in Luanda on August 24.
The triumph secured Angola’s 12th AfroBasket championship, extending their record as the most successful team in the tournament’s history. They went unbeaten in all six games, marking their first continental crown since 2013 in Ivory Coast.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers End in Fifth Place
Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, finished in fifth place at the competition. They were knocked out in the quarter-finals after a 91–75 defeat to Senegal, who later claimed the bronze medal.
Despite the exit, Nigeria closed on a positive note, winning three games and losing just one overall. They had earlier topped Group B after defeating Madagascar, Tunisia, and Cameroon.
