Media personality Shade Ladipo has issued a public apology to Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage for her critical remarks following the leak of the singer’s private video in 2021.

Reflecting on Her Past Comments

Taking to Instagram, Ladipo admitted that she unfairly judged Tiwa Savage at the time. She revealed that she had initially blamed the singer for the incident, a stance she now regrets.

“In hindsight, I wonder why I was blaming her so hard for something that happened to her,” Ladipo said.

She further acknowledged that her reaction was unsupportive and misplaced, adding that her criticism was harsh rather than empathetic.

A Heartfelt Apology

In her statement, Ladipo expressed genuine remorse and empathy. She explained that after reflecting on the situation, she now understands Tiwa’s pain and regrets her earlier comments.

“I was one of the people who blasted Tiwa Savage when that tape came out.

I blamed her. I said, ‘How can you be over 40, and still be messing around with people like this?’

But now, I feel her pain. I love you, Tiwa, and I’m sorry,” she wrote.

Background

In October 2021, Tiwa Savage revealed that she was being blackmailed over an intimate video of herself and her partner, which eventually surfaced online.

The leak sparked widespread conversations about privacy, accountability, and victim-blaming in the entertainment industry.

Why This Matters

Ladipo’s apology sheds light on the need for compassion and empathy in public discourse, especially when celebrities face personal crises.

Her admission also highlights how damaging victim-blaming can be and why supporting survivors of such incidents remains crucial.
