The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has extended the registration deadline for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.
The new deadline is now September 19, 2025, moving from the earlier date of September 5, 2025. The extension gives more candidates the chance to complete their enrollment and prepare adequately for the exam.
Smooth Transition to Digital Registration
WAEC introduced the computer-based format to modernize its examination system and reduce challenges often linked with manual processes. While many have welcomed the digital shift, some candidates remain cautious about the transition.
Why the Extension Matters
The extended window provides extra time for students who faced difficulties during the initial registration phase. It also ensures inclusivity, allowing more candidates across the country to participate without being left out.
Preparing for the Examination
WAEC has urged all eligible private candidates to take advantage of the new deadline and complete their registration before the portal closes. Candidates are encouraged to review the registration guidelines carefully to avoid errors that could affect their participation.
This development reinforces WAEC’s commitment to creating a flexible and accessible examination process, ensuring that no willing candidate is denied the opportunity to sit for the CB-WASSCE.
