US Lawmaker Slams China: “Will Not Dictate Our Foreign Policy”

A member of the United States House of Representatives, Riley Moore, has sharply criticized the Chinese government. Moore asserted that China has no standing to dictate the foreign policy of the United States.

Moore’s strong comments were a direct reaction to China’s public disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent military threat against Nigeria. Trump had warned of potential military action as part of an effort to “protect Christians from persecution.”

Clash Over Interference and Human Rights

The dispute stems from a statement made by a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Wednesday. The spokesperson stated that as Nigeria’s strategic partner, China “firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs or to threaten them with sanctions or force.”

In his response, Congressman Moore dismissed the Asian nation’s statement, labeling it a “Communist autocracy.”

Moore affirmed his support for the President’s threat: “President Trump is absolutely right to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering horrific persecution, and even martyrdom, for their faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The lawmaker then issued a pointed challenge to Beijing:

“China will not dictate our foreign policy to us, and we will not be lectured to by a Communist autocracy that recently arrested 30 Christian pastors for their faith and throws ethnic minorities in concentration camps.”

Nigeria’s Stance on Persecution

The military invasion threat issued by President Trump has generated diverse reactions from both the Nigerian government and its citizens. The Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, has formally denied the allegations of religious persecution.

According to the administration, no one in the country is specifically targeted because of their faith. Officials have argued that the insurgent groups operating in the region do not discriminate in their attacks, targeting individuals across all religious lines.

Do you think China’s statement was a genuine defense of Nigeria’s sovereignty or a political maneuver to criticize the United States? Share your take in the comment section below!
