A nationwide Human Capital Development (HCD) initiative has been announced by the board responsible for regulating and promoting local content in the nation’s energy sector.
This major program aims to provide specialized training to over 10,000 young Nigerians in high-demand technical and professional skills crucial for the oil and gas industry.
Eligibility and Focus Areas
This national initiative targets young citizens under the age of 35 years. Qualified candidates must hold an Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. The required academic background must be in Engineering or a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
The approved fields of study include:
- Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering
- Gas, Welding, and Metallurgy disciplines
- Geology, Geophysics, and Computer Science, along with related fields.
To participate in the program, candidates must first register and complete their profile on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS) portal.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Successful enrollment requires careful navigation of the online portal:
Step 1: Account Creation
- Visit the official NOGIC JQS login page.
- Select the Create Account option and accurately enter all personal details.
- After submission, check your email for a confirmation link. If you experience any delay or do not receive the confirmation, contact the support team via email for account activation and password creation.
Step 2: Log In and Update Profile

- Profile Section: Fill in all required personal and contact information.
- Academic Records Section: Enter details of your qualifications, educational institutions attended, and certificates obtained. Ensure all data is correctly entered and saved.
Note: The specific application option—“NCDMB Oil & Gas Field Readiness Training Program”—will only become visible after your profile and academic records are fully updated and completed.
Step 3: Accessing and Completing the Application
- After successfully completing the necessary profile updates, the NCDMB Oil & Gas Field Readiness Training Program option will appear on your dashboard.
- A pop-up window will prompt you to confirm your eligibility: that you are below 35 years of age and hold an OND, HND, or BSc in an approved field. Tick the box confirming you meet the requirements and click Proceed.
Step 4: Filling the Form and Selecting Skills
On the application form, provide your full name (First, Middle, and Last) and your Email Address. You must also enter your Course of Study.
Then, you need to select between one and three skill areas of interest, listing them in your order of preference. The available areas include:
