Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding his missed concert in Paris. He attributed his absence to a disagreement over payments between his tour agent and the local event promoter.
Detailing the situation on his social media account, the singer claimed he was fully prepared to perform but encountered flight delays. These delays, he asserted, were caused by his agent attempting to resolve outstanding payment issues.
The Conflict Over Contract
Kizz Daniel stated that his agent, Olamide Baron, had initially sold the Parisian show to another promoter. According to the singer’s account, this secondary promoter allegedly breached their contract by failing to submit the required financial balance.
“First, this wasn’t my fault,” the artist wrote. “Whatever clips y’all are seeing is a beef between the tour Agent… and the show promoter.” He confirmed: “I was paid to come Perform in Paris by [my agent] in full, he sold the show to another promoter and according to him the promoter breached his contract by not paying him his balance.”
The singer claimed he was prepared and ready to travel, but his agent intentionally delayed their scheduled flight.
“I’ve been ready since 6am for a 12:25pm flight… We were delayed from flying by [my agent] so he could get his money which I wasn’t aware of until later.”
Late Arrival and Venue Closure
The agent eventually resolved the issue with the promoter, but by then, they missed their flight. The next available flight, according to the agent, was scheduled for 5:25 p.m.
“We came into Paris late because of an unresolved issue between two promoters,” Kizz Daniel explained. He stated he went to the venue intending to perform anyway, despite the delay.
“I came to the Venue still because I wanted to perform, unfortunately the venue closes by 11pm according to the promoters.”
He strongly denied media reports regarding extravagant demands: “I never requested for a type of car or asked they bring an Escalade, All lies. I’ve bin going to shows in rented cabs since I got to Europe.”
Commitment to Future Shows
The singer emphasized his best efforts to ensure a smooth tour, acknowledging that sometimes, “e get as e be” (a Nigerian phrase meaning “sometimes, that’s just how things are”).
He highlighted recent performances in Italy and Sweden, where he took the stage despite working late hours (performing at 4 a.m. in Parma and 1:30 a.m. in Sweden, due to promoters waiting for a full hall). He noted that in Sweden, he couldn’t complete a full set due to venue curfews.
Kizz Daniel expressed his readiness for upcoming engagements. “As for Amsterdam I’m here and ready. The promoter gave 3am as performance time,” he wrote. For his Cologne show, the performance time is set for 10 p.m. “And I will be there by HIS Grace… Excited,” he concluded.
