Nigeria is ready to make history. The Nigeria Paravolleyball Federation has confirmed it will host the first-ever West Africa Zones A and B Para Games.
The tournament begins on November 26 and ends on December 4. It will take place at two major venues in Abeokuta. These are the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena and the Alake Sports Complex.
Team Nigeria Opens Camp
Federation President Kayode Ladele announced that preparations have intensified. The national team wants to be in peak condition. Therefore, they opened their training camp on Monday.
The camp is located at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. Ladele noted that the athletes trained consistently even before the camp began. This dedication has boosted confidence in the team’s ability to defend its reputation.
Targeting the Gold
The ambition for the host team is clear. They want nothing less than the gold medal.
Ladele admitted there is pressure as the region’s top-ranked team. However, he emphasized that the squad is focused on maintaining high standards.
“We believe strongly that we will achieve success,” Ladele stated. “Nigeria remains the strongest, and we will not lower our guard.”
A Regional Gathering
The Games will unite diverse nations from across West and Central Africa. Several countries have confirmed their participation.
Participating Nations Include:

West Africa: Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, Liberia, Niger Republic, and The Gambia.

Central/Islands: Cameroon and Seychelles.
Ladele praised the partnership with the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria. He also thanked the National Sports Commission. He described this collaborative support as vital for the event’s success.
