Luno, a leading cryptocurrency platform, has partnered with AltSchool Africa to provide fully funded crypto education to 15,000 Nigerians.

This initiative, titled “Demystifying Crypto for Africans,” aims to build financial literacy across the continent.

Unveiled on Tuesday, the program is being called the largest crypto education initiative ever launched in Africa. By combining Luno’s market expertise with AltSchool’s online learning platform, the partnership seeks to empower a new generation of digital investors.

Closing the Crypto Knowledge Gap

Ayotunde Alabi, the CEO of Luno Nigeria, described the program as a vital intervention for Africa’s digital finance ecosystem.

“As crypto adoption accelerates, formal literacy must grow alongside it,” Alabi stated. He emphasized that the goal is to help individuals benefit safely. Consequently, this partnership ensures that Nigerians can participate confidently in the digital economy.

Adewale Yusuf, Co-founder and CEO of AltSchool Africa, echoed these sentiments. He framed the collaboration as a direct investment in financial empowerment.

“This programme provides Nigerians with the knowledge to understand cryptocurrency with confidence,” Yusuf said. Furthermore, he noted that the course is a major step toward building a digitally literate population.

Course Details and How to Apply

The curriculum is specifically designed for beginners. It is structured to accommodate three separate cohorts, each consisting of 5,000 learners.

2026 Program Timeline:

  • Cohort 1: Starts in March 2026. (Applications open from January to February).
  • Cohort 2: Starts in July 2026.

Eligibility Requirements: To participate, applicants must be Nigerian residents aged 18 or older. Additionally, they must have an existing Luno account or create one before they enroll.

A Comprehensive Learning Structure

The program spans five core modules. While learners can complete the course in three to four weeks, they will receive one year of access to all materials.

The course includes the following learning tools:

  • Interactive Lessons: Video lessons, quizzes, and real-world case studies.
  • Hands-on Experience: Practical interactions with digital wallets and exchanges.
  • Advanced Tools: Training on stablecoins and research platforms like CoinGecko and Etherscan.

Successful graduates will receive an AltSchool Africa Certificate of Completion to validate their new skills.

Real-World Financial Application

Web3 expert Abdulsamad Tiamiyu is leading the program. He explained that the initiative blends theory with hands-on practice.

The ultimate goal is to help learners use cryptocurrency for everyday financial activities. These include savings, cross-border remittances, and entrepreneurship.

Currently, nearly one-third of Nigeria’s population interacts with digital assets. This partnership aims to bridge the literacy gap and foster a more responsible digital economy for all.
