The Nigerian film industry is reeling from the sudden loss of Princess Allwell Eniobanke Ademola. A highly respected actress, movie producer, and musician, she passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

According to a family statement released by Adegboyega Adebayo, the entertainer was only 49 years old.

The news has sent shockwaves through her colleagues and millions of fans. Currently, the family has requested privacy while they prepare for her burial arrangements.

Tributes Pour in for a Creative Icon

Known for her versatility, Princess Allwell was a beloved figure in the Yoruba film sector. Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin), President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), expressed his profound grief online.

“My heart is heavy tonight. We have lost a brilliant producer, director, and musician. Her creativity and spirit left a deep mark on everyone who knew her,” Amusan shared.

Additionally, her cousin and fellow actor Muyiwa Ademola confirmed the news. He described it as some of the saddest information he has ever received. Other industry giants, such as Femi Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, and Dayo Amusa, also expressed their shock. Many were in disbelief because the actress appeared healthy and happy during recent Christmas celebrations.

The Irony of Her Final Message

In a tragic turn of events, Princess Allwell posted a video to her Instagram account just hours before her death. In the clip, she sang a prophetic declaration: “I will see the end of this year; this year will not see my end.” This final interaction has left fans deeply emotional. Consequently, many are struggling to process how the tragedy unfolded so soon after such a hopeful message.

A Royal and Creative Legacy

Princess Allwell Ademola was born in 1976 into a royal family in Abeokuta, Ogun State. She was the great-granddaughter of the Alake of Egba land. Throughout her career, she carried this royal heritage with grace and dignity.

  • Early Beginnings: She started acting as a child but briefly paused to pursue music with her father’s support.
  • Career Launch: She officially joined Nollywood in 1992 and became a household name with the 2018 film Ile Wa.

  • Musical Talent: In 2002, she founded her own band, Allwell & Company, and released an album in 2006.
  • Accolades: She won Best Supporting Actress at the 2016 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards for her role in Hakunde.

Beyond her on-screen success, the late actress was admired for her immense strength. Years ago, she faced a devastating personal tragedy when her fiancé was killed just two months before their wedding.

In past interviews, she shared the trauma of being on the phone with him when the incident occurred. Despite the deep depression that followed, she eventually returned to her passion for entertainment. Although she remained single, she dedicated her life to her craft and her fans.

While unconfirmed reports suggest a sudden heart attack may have been the cause of death, the industry is still waiting for an official medical statement.
