Twiga Tours, a renowned Kenyan safari company, was recently celebrated as the World’s Leading Safari Company at the 2022 World Travel Awards (WTA), held in Muscat, Oman.

This prestigious event, now in its 29th year, recognizes the best in global travel and tourism. Twiga Tours stood out among top hospitality businesses worldwide, showcasing the strength of Kenya’s tourism industry.

A Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1980, Twiga Tours has grown into one of the most respected safari companies in East Africa.

The firm is known for offering personalized African safari experiences that attract visitors from all over the world. This latest recognition at the WTA further solidifies its position as a leader in the travel industry.

“This award is a huge accomplishment for our team,” said Minaz Manji, CEO of Twiga Tours. “It shows our dedication to delivering quality and unique safari experiences. We are grateful to our guests and partners who continue to trust us.”

Manji added that the journey has not been easy, but hard work, dedication, and a passion for creating unforgettable safari experiences have been key to their success. “We are proud to be recognized on such a global platform,” he said.

Global Recognition in Travel

The 2022 World Travel Awards celebrated several other key players in the travel industry. The Maldives took home the title of ‘World’s Leading Destination,’ while its tourism board, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), won ‘World’s Leading Tourist Board.’ Vietnam also had a strong showing, earning top titles such as ‘World’s Leading Heritage Destination’ and ‘World’s Leading City Break Destination’ for Hanoi.

Jamaica was another big winner, earning multiple honors including ‘World’s Leading Cruise Destination’ and ‘World’s Leading Family Destination.’

Other notable winners included Saint Lucia, which was recognized as a top honeymoon destination, and Dubai, which claimed the title of ‘World’s Leading Business Travel Destination.’

Achievements in Aviation and Hospitality

In the aviation sector, Qatar Airways was recognized as the ‘World’s Leading Airline,’ while Emirates dominated with awards like ‘World’s Leading Airline Brand’ and ‘World’s Leading Inflight Entertainment.’ Oman Air also performed well, winning ‘World’s Leading Airline – Business Class,’ and Etihad Airways was named ‘World’s Leading Airline – Economy Class.’

The hospitality industry saw Sandals Resorts International winning ‘World’s Leading All-Inclusive Company,’ with Sandals Grenada named ‘World’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort.’

Raising Industry Standards

Graham Cooke, founder of the World Travel Awards, encouraged the winners to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in the tourism and hospitality sectors. “These awards reflect the dedication and innovation of the winners. Their commitment to being the best will help raise standards across the industry,” Cooke said.

The recognition of companies like Twiga Tours not only highlights their achievements but also raises the bar for others in the travel and safari industry. With such awards, the global tourism landscape continues to evolve, offering travelers even more exceptional experiences.
