Moroccan taxis get digital upgrade

Taxis in Morocco are now keeping up with modern technology, thanks to new multimedia screens for drivers. The company behind this innovation, Itechia, recently launched the “Taxi Sahbi” (Taxi my friend) tablet. This device offers many services and aims to change the way Moroccans use taxis.

Fahd Mekouar, Managing Director of Itechia, explained, “The tablet lets drivers use apps for phone calls, GPS, e-wallets, and fare collection. It also allows advertisers to reach new customers.”

Many taxi drivers in Morocco have embraced this new technology to improve their service. Around 800 taxis now have the tablet, and the company plans to expand it to other cities in Morocco and Africa. “We are rolling it out in cities like Casablanca, Rabat, Tangiers, and Marrakech,” said Nadia, who works at Itechia.

Along with the tablet, a mobile app has been created to better manage supply and demand. One customer said, “It’s very easy to use. It saves me time because I can call a taxi before leaving my office.”

Taxi drivers are also pleased with the new tablet. “There are many benefits, like free calls and access to the internet. I can check traffic and avoid jams. Passengers can scan a barcode to give feedback on their ride,” one driver shared.

The tablet and app have improved the efficiency and transparency of taxi services in Morocco, creating a better experience for both passengers and drivers.

The new technology in Moroccan taxis is changing the way people travel, offering more convenience and comfort. Passengers can now enjoy a smoother ride with access to faster taxis and better communication with drivers. The tablets also help drivers avoid heavy traffic, making trips quicker and more efficient.

For the taxi drivers, these multimedia tablets bring several advantages. They can manage their rides more easily, stay updated on traffic conditions, and communicate with passengers and other drivers through free calls. The option for passengers to give feedback instantly through a barcode scan allows drivers to improve their service, leading to higher customer satisfaction.

As Itechia continues to expand the use of these tablets to more cities across Morocco and beyond, the taxi service in the country is set to become even more advanced. This innovation not only modernizes transportation but also offers new advertising opportunities, as businesses can reach a wide audience of passengers.

In the future, it is likely that more Moroccan taxis will adopt this technology, providing a safer, more efficient, and user-friendly experience for everyone. The success of the “Taxi Sahbi” tablet shows that technology can bring positive change to everyday services like transportation, making life easier for both passengers and drivers.
