Namibian sprinters Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi will not participate in the upcoming African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius due to injuries, as confirmed by their coach, Henk Botha. The championships are scheduled for June 8, and Botha stated that the 19-year-old athletes will not have fully recovered by that time.

Masilingi, an Olympic silver medalist, suffered a hamstring injury during the women’s 100m event at the Gaborone International Meet in Botswana on April 30. Meanwhile, Mboma’s condition worsened last month during the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya, where she sustained a tear in her upper thigh.

Earlier this year, Mboma set a national senior record of 11.15 seconds in the women’s 100m during the World Athletics Continental Tour in Bloemfontein, South Africa. However, like her South African counterpart Caster Semenya, Mboma faces restrictions on competing in certain events due to controversial regulations concerning testosterone levels.
