Eberechukwu Obiano, the wife of former Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has won the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket for the Anambra North senatorial district ahead of the 2023 general election. She secured 152 votes, defeating her husband’s former chief of staff, Primus Odili, who garnered 120 votes in the APGA primary election held at the Ikpeazu Sports Stadium in Onitsha.
In a related development, Senator Stella Oduah, the former aviation minister and current representative of Anambra North, emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the same senatorial district.
Additionally, Senator Uche Ekwunife won the PDP ticket for the Anambra Central senatorial district, while Chief Chris Uba secured the PDP ticket for Anambra South.
For the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, a former governorship candidate, emerged unopposed as the party’s candidate for Anambra Central through affirmation by party members. Meanwhile, Chief Chukwuma Umeoji, a former APGA gubernatorial aspirant, won the APC ticket for Anambra South.
In another highlight, Dozie Nwankwo, the incumbent member representing Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia federal constituency, defeated former APGA national chairman Chief Victor Umeh to become the APGA candidate for the Anambra Central senatorial district.
