Tiwa Savage Drops ‘Water & Garri’ EP, Collaborates with American Artists

Water & GarriNigerian music star Tiwa Savage has officially released her highly anticipated EP, “Water & Garri,”today, August 20, 2021. The five-track project showcases Savage’s versatility, blending Afrobeat sounds with global influences, and features collaborations with renowned American artists. This release marks another milestone in her international career and solidifies her status as one of Africa’s leading musical talents.

“Water & Garri” features notable guest appearances, including American music heavyweights Brandy, who appears on the track “Somebody’s Son,” and rapper Nas, who lends his voice to the track “Work Fada.”Other featured artists on the EP include Ghanaian-American artist Amaarae and the Nigerian singer *Tay Iwar, adding more African and global flavors to the project.

Tiwa Savage explained the title of the EP, noting that “Water & Garri” represents a metaphor for mixing the familiar with the unfamiliar, symbolizing the blending of African roots with international sounds. In an interview ahead of the release, Savage said:
“This EP is very special to me. It’s a blend of African vibes and the global sounds that have influenced me throughout my career. I hope it resonates with my fans worldwide.”

The release of “Water & Garri” follows her successful 2020 album “Celia,” which received widespread critical acclaim and positioned Savage as one of the key voices in the Afrobeat genre. This new EP sees her pushing the boundaries of her sound by collaborating with international artists, expanding her reach beyond the African continent. The EP is already generating significant buzz on streaming platforms and social media, with fans praising its production and cross-continental collaborations.

Tiwa Savage, who is signed to Universal Music Group, continues to make waves on the international music scene. In addition to her music, Savage has been an outspoken advocate for African artists gaining global recognition, and her work has paved the way for more African musicians to enter the global market.

The release of “Water & Garri” is accompanied by a visually stunning music video for “Somebody’s Son” featuring Brandy, which is available on streaming platforms. The video captures the emotional depth of the song, further enhancing the EP’s appeal to a global audience.
