Mali’s Minister of Culture, Khadija Sangaré, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating:

The festival features a packed schedule, including concerts, workshops, and panel discussions. Renowned Malian musicians such as Salif Keita, Toumani Diabaté, and Oumou Sangaré are headlining the event, drawing crowds eager to experience their legendary performances.

In addition to the performances, the festival hosts workshops where emerging artists can learn from established musicians. Topics include traditional instrument techniques, song composition, and the history of Malian music. These sessions are designed to foster collaboration and mentorship between seasoned artists and the next generation of musicians.

The festival also emphasizes the importance of cultural preservation, with initiatives aimed at promoting traditional music and instruments. Exhibits showcasing traditional musical instruments, such as the kora and ngoni, provide visitors with insights into the craftsmanship and cultural significance of these art forms.

The festival’s organizers have implemented strict health protocols to ensure the safety of attendees, including mask mandates and social distancing measures, in light of ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19.
