Nigerian singer Joe El has publicly questioned talent manager Ubi Franklin over an alleged unpaid 10% fee from a performance at the Plateau International Music Festival. The artist, in a recent social media post, demanded clarity on the revenue from the event and his share of the proceeds.

Joe El accused Franklin, who was reportedly involved in managing the festival logistics, of withholding his rightful earnings. The singer stated, “I was part of the show, and I know there were finances involved. Where is my own 10%?” This query has reignited conversations about transparency in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In response to the allegations, Franklin has yet to issue a direct statement addressing Joe El’s claims. However, he recently found himself in another controversy involving artist Spyro. Spyro had accused Franklin of demanding an unearned commission from a ₦10.5 million car endorsement deal. Franklin denied these allegations, maintaining that he only sought payment for services rendered.

The Plateau show dispute comes amid growing concerns among artists over fairness in revenue sharing and accountability in the music industry. Many artists have called for clear contracts and transparent payment structures to avoid such misunderstandings.

Industry observers note that disputes between artists and their managers are not uncommon, often stemming from verbal agreements rather than written contracts. In Joe El’s case, details of the agreement regarding the festival earnings remain unclear.

Fans have also weighed in on the matter, with many urging both parties to resolve the issue amicably. While some have criticized Franklin for the recurring controversies, others believe that artists should ensure formal agreements to avoid future disputes.

The Plateau International Music Festival was widely regarded as a successful event that showcased Nigerian talent on a global stage. However, disputes like this risk overshadowing its achievements. Franklin, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, has faced similar allegations in the past, which he has consistently denied.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Joe El and Ubi Franklin will settle their differences privately or take legal action. Fans and stakeholders alike are closely monitoring the developments, hoping for a resolution that upholds professionalism in the music industry.
