After a hiatus of over five years, Acer is making a comeback in the smartphone industry with the introduction of two entry-level devices, the Acerone Liquid S162E4 and the Acerone Liquid S272E4. These smartphones are set to launch in India under the Acerpure brand, which Acer has previously used for its home appliances.

It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 processor, accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Its rear camera setup includes a 20MP primary sensor and a 0.3MP secondary sensor, complemented by a 5MP front-facing camera. Like its counterpart, it operates on Android 14 and houses a 5,000mAh battery. The device’s dimensions are 171 x 78.6 x 8.9 mm, and it weighs 200 grams.
Both smartphones feature displays with waterdrop notches and noticeable bottom bezels. The Liquid S162E4 will be available in light blue, while the Liquid S272E4 comes in a darker shade of blue. These models are expected to be budget-friendly, targeting the entry-level segment of the market.
In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the Indian market, Acer has entered into a licensing agreement with Bengaluru-based Indkal Technologies. This partnership allows Indkal to design, manufacture, and distribute smartphones under the Acer brand in India. The companies plan to launch a range of made-in-India smartphone models, aiming to capture a significant market share. The upcoming devices are expected to be priced between $173.02 and $576.72, featuring robust specifications, advanced hardware, and software technologies. They will be available through both e-commerce platforms and offline retail stores across the country.
Anand Dubey, CEO of Indkal Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that customers can anticipate exceptionally well-designed smartphones equipped with high-end processors, top-notch camera technology, and a host of premium features across the range. He also highlighted that all Acer-branded smartphones will be designed and manufactured in India, aligning with the government’s Make in India initiative.
Acer’s reentry into the smartphone market, particularly in India, reflects its strategy to leverage its brand reputation and tap into the growing demand for affordable smartphones. By partnering with Indkal Technologies and focusing on locally designed and manufactured devices, Acer aims to establish a foothold in the competitive Indian smartphone landscape.
