LG Crisis

Nigerian singer Davido has apologized to the Osun State Commissioner of Police after initially criticizing law enforcement over the handling of the state’s ongoing local government crisis. The artist had earlier expressed frustration on social media, warning that failure to uphold the rule of law could lead to chaos.

His comments sparked widespread reactions, with some supporting his stance while others urged caution. However, in a follow-up statement, Davido acknowledged that emotions had overwhelmed him and clarified that his outburst was not intended as an attack on the police but rather a call for fairness. He went on to praise the Osun police commissioner for maintaining peace amid the political tensions.

The local government crisis in Osun State has led to heightened political unrest, with different factions clashing over leadership disputes. Davido, who has strong ties to the state, has been vocal about governance issues, given his family’s political involvement. His retraction and apology appear to be an effort to de-escalate tensions while emphasizing the need for justice and order.

Despite the controversy, the Osun State Police Command has maintained that it remains committed to neutrality and ensuring stability in the state. The commissioner welcomed Davido’s apology, reiterating that the force operates within the bounds of the law.
