Ghana Unveils Strategic Plan to Enhance Logistics and Supply Chain Sector

The announcement was made by the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, during a press conference held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Accra. “The logistics and supply chain sector is a critical driver of economic development. With this new plan, we aim to create a more efficient, cost-effective, and resilient supply chain network that will benefit all stakeholders involved,” stated Asiamah.

The strategic plan outlines several key initiatives, including investments in infrastructure development, digitalization of logistics operations, and the establishment of public-private partnerships to enhance service delivery. A significant focus will be placed on upgrading existing transport infrastructure, such as roads, ports, and railways, to ensure smoother transit for goods.

Additionally, the government plans to implement advanced technological solutions to streamline logistics processes. This includes the adoption of digital platforms for tracking shipments, managing inventory, and facilitating real-time communication among supply chain participants. The goal is to minimize delays and inefficiencies that have historically plagued the sector.
