The festival, which runs until May 21, aims to promote cultural exchange and showcase the diverse musical traditions that shape Mali’s vibrant arts scene.

The festival opened with a spectacular ceremony featuring a parade of traditional musicians and dancers, showcasing the country’s rich cultural history. Artists from various countries, including Mali, Senegal, Nigeria, and France, participated in the inaugural performance, delighting the audience with a fusion of different musical styles.

Mali’s Minister of Culture, Khadija Sangaré, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating:
“This festival is a celebration of our cultural diversity and the unifying power of music. We are excited to welcome artists from around the world to share their talents and experiences.”

The festival features a packed schedule, including concerts, workshops, and panel discussions. Renowned Malian musicians such as Salif Keita, Toumani Diabaté, and Oumou Sangaré are headlining the event, drawing crowds eager to experience their legendary performances.

In addition to the performances, the festival hosts workshops where emerging artists can learn from established musicians. Topics include traditional instrument techniques, song composition, and the history of Malian music. These sessions are designed to foster collaboration and mentorship between seasoned artists and the next generation of musicians.

The festival also emphasizes the importance of cultural preservation, with initiatives aimed at promoting traditional music and instruments.
