Iyabo Ojo

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has refuted a viral “wanted” poster targeting Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo, calling it fake and misleading.

The poster, which spread across social media, falsely claimed that the actress had been declared wanted and that a reward was being offered for her arrest.

Police Clarification

In a statement on its verified Facebook page on Thursday, the NPF said the poster did not originate from any official police platform.

The statement read:

“Fake news alert! This ‘wanted’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading and was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard and stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels.”

The Force urged Nigerians to ignore the publication and stop circulating false information.

Public Reaction

The fake bulletin caused outrage and confusion online. Many Nigerians questioned its authenticity before the police issued an official clarification.

Authorities warned that the spread of false documents and forged statements misleads the public and undermines the credibility of legitimate institutions.

Rising Fake News Concerns in Nigeria

This case highlights growing worries over misinformation in Nigeria. Fake press releases and forged documents are increasingly being used to target celebrities and public figures.

The NPF stressed that all official communication comes from its verified platforms. It also advised the public to always fact-check before sharing unverified news online.
