Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has confirmed that the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will be laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, within the Daura Local Government Area, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The announcement came during a press briefing at the Government House in Katsina on Monday, following the former leader’s passing.
Burial Arrangements
Governor Radda shared that after consultations with Buhari’s family and associates in London, where the ex-president died on Sunday at age 82, the burial plans are set.
“The body will arrive in Katsina by 12 noon tomorrow, with the burial scheduled for 2 p.m. in Daura,” he said.
Radda extended condolences on behalf of the state government and its people to Buhari’s family and all Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, expressing hope that Allah grants strength to bear the loss.
National Response
Buhari’s death in a London hospital prompted President Tinubu to dispatch Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to escort his remains back to Nigeria.
The nation mourns as preparations continue for a dignified farewell in Daura.
