The announcement was made by the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who stated that the holiday allows workers and residents to join the nation in mourning and praying for the late leader.

Governor’s Tribute

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed profound condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and the entire nation.

He described Buhari as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was dedicated to the service of Nigeria.”

Radda offered prayers, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant mercy to Buhari’s soul, forgive his shortcomings, and reward his noble deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus.

Next Steps

The declaration reflects the deep respect for Buhari, a native of Katsina, whose legacy continues to resonate across the state and country.
