The Spanish Government has called for an investigation into Barcelona star Lamine Yamal’s 18th birthday celebration, held on July 13, 2025, following allegations of exploitation.
The event, attended by around 200 guests including friends, family, and teammates, featured a mafia theme and has sparked outrage.
Social media model Claudio Calvo claims Yamal paid 12 women with specific breast measurements to attend, while concerns have also arisen over the use of individuals with dwarfism as entertainment.
Government and Advocacy Response
The Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias with Dwarfism (ADEE) has condemned the hiring of people with dwarfism, vowing legal and social action to protect their dignity.
Their statement highlights violations of both law and ethical standards.
The Spanish Government, led by General Director of Disability Jesús Martín, supports this stance, seeking a probe and a potential fine of up to £867,000.
Martín warned:
“We are concerned that people with money and power believe themselves unpunished. The law applies to all,”
He then expressed his worry about the influence on young fans who admire Yamal.
Controversy and Next Steps
The lavish party has drawn widespread criticism, with authorities examining whether disability laws were breached.
Yamal has not yet commented publicly as the investigation unfolds.
