Police detain father accused of impregnating 17-year-old biological daughter.
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 54-year-old man, identified as Umar Sule, for allegedly sexually assaulting his biological daughter, resulting in pregnancy.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil, authorities received the complaint on April 3, 2025, from Abdullahi Baban Karatu, a 55-year-old resident of Kurmin Ado village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with his 17-year-old daughter multiple times in his bedroom, beginning in November 2024.
Medical reports confirm the victim is approximately three months pregnant.
“During interrogation, the suspect willingly admitted to his wrongdoing,” Wakil stated.
“The victim corroborated these statements, adding that the incidents occurred while her mother was away visiting relatives in Burra village.”
The victim reportedly disclosed her father’s actions after her mother noticed the pregnancy and questioned her about its origin.
Bauchi Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the case be brought to court following the completion of investigations by the team of detectives assigned to the case.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about sexual violence against minors in Nigeria, particularly cases involving family members in positions of trust.
