Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido has earned a prestigious spot as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards.

This role lets him help choose winners for the 2026 Grammys, joining music experts worldwide.

Recording Academy’s Post

On September 23, 2025, the Academy shared an Instagram video showcasing Davido with new members like Ravyn Lenae, Offset, and Jessie Reyez.

The post emphasized the hard work behind music-making and called for active voting.

“Your voice counts,” the Academy stated.

Davido’s Pride

Davido, nominated three times in 2024 for his song “Feel,” celebrated the honor. “Voting lets us decide what gets celebrated each year,” he said. “I’m thrilled to join the Academy and help shape the Grammys.”

Boosting Global Voices

Including Davido shows the Academy’s drive to diversify, spotlighting African and international artists. This step aims to make the Grammys reflect the world’s varied music scene.

Voting Schedule

The Academy announced that 2026 Grammy voting starts October 3, 2025.

“Members, check the ballot and vote early,” it urged, noting a short window for nominations and final selections.

Afrobeats’ Growing Impact

Davido’s role strengthens Afrobeats’ global rise. It gives him a stage to influence music’s top awards and inspire Nigerian artists and beyond.
