Sudan's Aid

On October 1, 2025, Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms (ERR) earned the prestigious Right Livelihood Award for their critical humanitarian work in war-torn Sudan.

Joining them are activists from Myanmar, the Pacific Islands, and Taiwan, recognized for their bold efforts in global challenges.

Celebrating Resilience

The Stockholm-based foundation selected these winners from 159 nominees across 67 countries.

The 2025 laureates stand out for their fight against climate change, disinformation, and violence, using grassroots action to drive change. Their work promotes unity and hope in a divided world.

Sudan’s Lifeline

ERR, born from the 2019 Sudanese revolution, delivers vital aid to conflict zones unreachable by many global groups.

Operating amid war and displacement, ERR provides food, medical supplies, and shelter. “They’re Sudan’s humanitarian backbone,” said director Ole von Uexküll, praising their courage in crisis.

Climate Justice Champions

Pacific Island Students Fighting Climate Change, alongside Julian Aguon, were honored for their global push for climate justice.

Their advocacy at international courts has turned environmental protection into a legal obligation, amplifying the voice of vulnerable island nations facing rising seas.

Myanmar’s Brave Resistance

Justice for Myanmar received the award for exposing the financial networks propping up the country’s military regime.

Their daring investigations reveal global corporate ties, weakening the junta’s power and inspiring accountability in a nation under authoritarian grip.

Taiwan’s Digital Pioneer

Audrey Tang of Taiwan was celebrated for using technology to strengthen democracy. By creating digital tools that empower citizens, Tang fosters transparent governance and bridges societal divides, redefining tech for public good.

Award’s Legacy

Founded in 1980, the Right Livelihood Award, often called the alternative Nobel, honors unsung heroes.

Past recipients include Greta Thunberg and Denis Mukwege, known for their transformative work in climate and human rights.

Why It Matters

These awards highlight solutions to urgent global issues, from war to environmental crises. The winners’ efforts inspire collective action and resilience, showing paths to a better future.

Looking Ahead

In 2025, a ceremony will celebrate the laureates, boosting their missions. Their work will continue to shape global conversations on justice, sustainability, and democracy.
