Nigeria’s amputee football team has reached a major milestone. The Special Eagles officially booked their place in the final of the maiden West Africa Para Games.
The hosts continued their dominant run on Sunday. They secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cameroon. The match took place at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.
Tactical Discipline Secures Victory
This match was tighter than the opening fixture. However, the Special Eagles maintained control from the first whistle.
Ahmed Usman provided the decisive moment. He capitalized on a defensive error by the Cameroonian backline. Consequently, he fired Nigeria into the lead.
Throughout the encounter, the Nigerian side displayed tactical cohesion. They maintained high pressure. As a result, they nullified Cameroon’s attacking threats and denied them significant scoring opportunities.

This victory builds on a spectacular start. In their opening match on Friday, the Special Eagles announced their title ambitions. They ruthlessly demolished the Benin Republic 11-0.

In other fixtures, Liberia recorded a convincing 7-0 win over Benin Republic. Meanwhile, Cameroon and Benin played out a goalless draw.
Nigeria has secured its ticket to Wednesday’s final. Now, the Special Eagles turn their attention to Liberia. They face them in the last group match on Monday.
The team boasts experienced starters and impactful substitutes. Therefore, they remain the clear favorites to lift the trophy on home soil.
